"The King is Enthralled by your Beauty": Next Generation Make-up

"The King is Enthralled by your Beauty": Next Generation Make-up

Next Generation Make-up

The latest craze in make-up today is minerals! Many people have jumped on the bandwagon because they want their skin to be healthy and be able to breathe! However beware of some major brands out there becasue they often contain fillers that are actually skin irritants! While I will not mention those brands by name, I will promote two brands that do not contain the major skin irritant of Bismuith Oxychloride! These two brands are Mineral Essence and Dolce Vanita Minerals!

First of all, what is bismuith oxychloride? If you have ever worn mineral make-up and had your skin itch, burn/tingle when you sweat, or after a few weeks break out with cystic acne, then flip over and make sure it doesn't have bismuith in it. Bismuith is a filler used by alot of make-up brands and not just minerals. However becasue mineral make-up contains few ingredients, often that bismuith filler is the MAIN ingredient. Bismuith is an INORGANIC pigment used to give make-up a silky feeling and a nice sheen. it is found on the periodic table and the symbols for it are biOCl. Bismuith aslo has to go through many proccess to remove many dangerous elements after harvested, (so it isn't completely pure at this point) before it can be used in make-up.

It can be safe to use bismuith even the FDA approves Bismuith for the skin, but for many people they are allergic and bothered by the high levels in many cosmetics lines. So wether or not your use it, is up to you. Over time Bismuith can be linked to causing cystic acne even if not noticeable right away. Although if you like your mineral make-up and feel unbothered by B.O. than continue to use it, but be aware if your skin suddenly becomes more irritable than normal.

Both Dolce Vanita and M.E. are amazing mineral make-up Comanies who strive to create safe and bismuith free mineral make-up lines. By buffing in their products you can rest assured your skin isnt being filled by uncomfortable ingredients. They have amazing staying power and their eyeshadows really pop! M.E. Was even featured at the LA Make-up Show this last March! So branch out and if you really want to jump on the PURE-Mineral Bandwagon shop these companies!

Happy Buffing!

It's very chic especially as the days are getting warmer!

Mascara Mash-up

As make-up Artists we have tried, loved, and hated hundreds of mascaras. Wether they are cheap or expense, flaws and perfection, are behind many! So we have spent our extra cash to bring you the reasons to try or walk-past many mascara brands. So don't decide based on price or looks or even by name, but choose based upon your needs. So if you're tired of looking like a racoon or feeling like your brush is in control...Read on Girlie!
Here are our opinions based on a 1(least)-5(best) scale
To begin lets look at our expense "Brand Name" mascaras.

"Blinc Mascara"-$25
Blinc Masacra Formerly known as- Kiss Me. "Don't just paint your lasehes...Tube them!" Anyone who attended the LA Make-up Show, wittnessed first hand this pricey little number. We give this a 3 in rating. The brush was a nice size to use on yourself or on others. It made the lashes stand out, and definitley lasted all day! The mascara creates tiny micrscopic tubes around your lashes adding length and volume and those tubes hold on for the ride (through crying, sweating, and rubbing)! It was nice because unlike waterproof mascara, I felt these tubes left your lashes in better condition without compromising longevity. However for the price, other mascaras, not quite as pricey will also create lash "tubes". But we all know you have to pay more to get the "original" thing!

Too Faced "Lash Injection" Mascara-$19
This Mascara known as "Lash Injection" is my favorite expensive mascara. For the price I really felt like this one lived up to its name! I think not only did they put cologne in the product, but also in the Bristles! It wasnt that wide of a brush but every bristle had a big impact. This is why I give it a solid 4. It forms tiny tubes around the eyelashes and last better than waterproof mascara. My eyes always water, and not once did this mascara give into allergies. For only $19 you are getting the benefits of Blinc mascara at a better price.

My partner in beauty, Kelsey, found her Estee Lauder mascara to be her favorite expensive mascara.
Estee Lauder "Sumptious Volume"- $ 19.50
We too give EL a 3.75 rating for mascara. This wand isnt as big. So for those of you who want volume but HATE big wands, give this slim jim a try. A quick, and very smooth coat adds a look of Falsies without the mess. One draw back to this bad boy is that, the tube doesnt last as long as many other brands. It dries out a little quicker, but at a cheaper price you may just be willing to overlook that.

"Dazzle Glass" MAC-$11
As many of you know MAC products are loved by virtually every girl. Although MAC is a Household-name-brand, becasue of price it is actually between "brand name" and Drugstore. However as much as I love MAC I can only give their mascaras a 2. This one really plumped my lashes and gave me a bold look. But we always had either clumps or flakinesss by the end of the day. The tube also dried out after about a month. (we also don't "pump" our mascara so it wasn't because of that!) The DazzleGlass did what it promised in terms of Length and Glam, but once again I had to buy a new bottle before long! In a photo shoot it's nice because it does give length, but for an everyday wear, I might skip out for a longer lasting tube.
"Plush Lash" MAC-$11
(However since We are MAC fans on this blog, we DO recomend their Lashes!)
estimated-$5.50
Now for our Bargain Buys. Sometimes you get what you pay for, but many times you are surprised. Just as we are with some drugstore brands. Most Make-up artists and, Make-up magazines, either carry this "Great Lash" mascara in their kit or have claimed it to be the best. But we give it a 3. For price, it is a "Great" buy but in terms of results, we weren't as impressed. nothing about it stood out like other brands. It always flaked during the day and we had to do more than one application to achieve results. To give it credit, the tube never dried out! We thought it would never run low or dry, and definitely got your little lashes in the corner. If you're on a budget, be spendy and buy a mascara that might cost you an extra dollar so you can at least have a better performing mascara.
Rimmel "Lash Flirt"- $7.75
I can only give this mascara a 1! "lash flirt" was really a "lash flop" Sure it never dried out or clumped, but i got NO results from it, I bought it becasue of the cute package and definitely regreted it. Rimmel normally performs well as a drug store brand, but this time i was let down.

Our favorite drug store mascara was Revlon Double Twist, For $8 I was satisfied. It gets a 4. For the price I got thick "false" looking lashes and never broke my pocket book! After getting used to the thick formula, you can appreciate it's two different bristles. They work together to lift, curl and seperate. Without the "tubes" you don't get as much length,  but it does perform as well as our expensive brands!

With so many brands to pick from, you can be happy with a cheaper buy, but sometimes added benefits like "lash tubes" (that work) you may need to save some paychecks! We hope by putting our poor lashes to the test, your eyes will be perky and flirty without having to wear a bad mascara first!
